This is a true experience I recently had. In the fall of 2009, September to be exact, I was contracted to speak at one of our local corporations’ health and safety training workshop. I had an audience of just under 300 people with more than 98% of the audience being men. I had delivered to this corporation many times over the past 7 years, so I was very familiar with the makeup of the audience and how I would need to structure the message I wish to share with them. The topic that day was Solutions for Men’s Health: Why Gender Matters. In short, the session was well received. Three weeks ago, I received an email from a person who identified himself as one of the participants in that workshop, thanking me for the message I had to share and get this- told me he lost sixty pounds ( 60 lbs) over 4-months! He elaborated by telling me how he had put in place a few of the simple measures I had talked about- one of them was eliminating added sugar from his diet. He was exuberant! and assured me he was going for 100 lbs.
What this testimonial does for me is to remind me of the power in the little actions we take each day. What those actions are will give you results no matter what. This gentleman chose to invest in his health by identifying what he has control over and taking action to exert that control- the result is an incredible amount of investment in his health.
You too can have a similar result. In my 7 Solutions for Living a Healthier and Happier Life program, the second solution is to Increase Awareness of Daily Actions. This conscious living is where you will start to see the results you want in your life. By becoming increasingly aware of what you are doing or not doing, how you do or not do things, why you do or not do things, where you do or not do certain things and finally when you do or not do certain things, you will start to invest in your health 1% at a time. If you do the math, at the end of the week you would have invested 7% in your health, this then snowballs into an amazing 365% return on your investment (R.O.I.) at the end of the year. This is the kind of R.O.I. everyone desires. Solutions for starting your daily 1% investment in your health: 1.Resume or establish your role as the head-cook of all or most of your meals. 2. Eat food not food-like products 3.Eat food not nutrients and 4.Eat more plant-based foods.
